Artist in residence
I’m an artist and I’m a photographer, have been professionally since 2007. For the past few years I’ve also been a family carer.
I grew up on a Holderness farm, I worked on the farm, helping with sowing and then harvesting crops. I spent hours driving tractors in lonely fields, with no other company than the birds and the life in the soil. I learned to look after animals on the farm and I learned to love the land. The earth, the soil, the landscape is a fundamental part of who I am. At an early age I learnt to use and love the camera. Drawing and reading became pastime passions too.
My creative practise encompasses elements from all of these experiences. I feel very fortunate to be able to share my creative ideas with others to enhance our everyday lives. Particularly through the tough times we can go through.
For tasters, I’d like to share with you some of the things I do… and will do more of at Rooted in Hull as artist in residence.
Photography, creative writing, painting, print making, Cyanotypes, making simple books, image transfer, recycled art, plant inspired art, events, workshops and exhibitions. Last and not least, there will be opportunities just to ‘be in the space’ as well as the ‘yet to be explored’.
I’m looking forward to this new chapter in my creative practise, and to having a dedicated arts space here by the side of the River Hull.
